Nintendo: Dolphin delayed until 2001

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Nintendo has confirmed that its next-generation game console, code-named Dolphin, will be delayed until next year.

The company originally planned to release the device, featuring a 400-MHz IBM processor, a graphics chip from ArtX, and DVD drive, sometime this year.

Microsoft's X-Box, featuring a 600-MHz Intel Pentium III, is also slated for a 2001 release.

The Dolphin's delay comes as competitors Sega and Sony have beaten Nintendo to the punch with the release of the Dreamcast and the PlayStation2, both of which include Internet connectivity and high-speed graphics and processing power.
