Today we posted our exhaustive look at Sony's PSP. It is quite an impressive little piece of technology. But the PSP isn't the only handheld device fighting to get into your pocket.
Let's face it, the Playstation Portable and its competitors are an attempt to capitalize on some of the success created by the pioneers of handheld gaming - the people at Nintendo.

In 1989, Nintendo released the original Game Boy to a worldwide audience. Since then, the original and its many iterations have collectively sold well over 170 million units. 1994 saw the release of the Super Game Boy, followed in 1996 by the Game Boy Pocket, which shrunk the hardware considerably. The Game Boy Color hit our shores in 1998, with the Game Boy Advance arriving in 2001. Its incredible sales volumes, combined with the largest game library of any system - all versions have been backwards compatible - makes the Game Boy line the most successful gaming device in history. About the only gaming system that one could say has done as well would be ye olde dice and playing cards!
