New version of RivaTuner may upgrade GeForce 6800 cards
Alexey Nicolaychuk has posted a new version of his RivaTuner tool. As one of the most comprehensive tweaking tools for Nvidia and ATI chips, the new version 2.0 RC15.1 supports the new GeForce 6600/6800 and Radeon X800 series.
According to Nicolaychuk, some GeForce 6800 owners will be able to unlock software masked pixel pipelines and vertex processors and greatly boost performance of their card. "Take a note that both pixel pipelines and vertex processors on GeForce 6800 (LE) boards can be locked either at hardware or at software level. RivaTuner will be able to unlock them in the second case only," he writes. In other words, owners of GeForce 6800 LE boards may be able to upgarde their product to the equivalent of a 6800 (GT or Ultra).
The software is offered as freeware .
