New Spyro game to hit five platforms this Autumn
Los Angeles (CA) - Sierra Entertainment announced today that the flying purple fire breather will be the star of another Spyro game, in its first transition to the next-gen arena.
Although The Legend of Spyro : The Eternal Night will be released on five different platforms, only one is a next-gen home console system, the Wii. The game will also make its way to the Playstation 2, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and cell phones.
Releasing the title for GBA is an interesting move, as the system is essentially dead, with no more than a handful of games still slated for the seven-year-old handheld.
The new installment will add four new breath attacks, four new melee attacks, and four new fury moves. Elijah Wood will once again provide the voice of Spyro, with Harry Potter’s Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) taking the role of Ignitus, Spyro’s mentor.
The Spyro series will reach its ninth anniversary by the time the game is released this fall. It has a long and confusing history with developers, publishers, and console exclusivity. There are even two separate development companies for The Eternal Night, Krome Studios for PS2/Wii and Amaze Entertainment for GBA/DS.
