New legislation seeks to make phishing even more illegal
Like the infamous 419 scam, phishing is designed to part fools from their money through the use of fraudulent e-mail. Victims receive an official looking missive purporting to be from a respected financial institution, or maybe a well-known internet auction website, informing them of dire account consequences if they do not immediately log in and reenter their personal information.
