New Intel chips conserve power

by - source: Tom's Hardware

New mobile processors on the Intel drawing board will require almost three watts less than other Pentium II and Celeron chips.

ZDNN reports that Intel will launch next month two low-power mobile 266MHz chips, along with a 333MHz mobile Celeron chip, according to sources.

The low-power chips - a 266MHz Pentium II and Celeron - each consumes about 6.3 watts of power.

To date, mininotebooks have been a step behind their larger brethren when it comes to performance. The new chips promise to increase performance while addressing power and heat constraints of the smaller systems.
