New Hitachi Plasma HDTV Monitor
If you're one of those folks who doesn't understand how anyone could get by with a little 24" television, you're probably saving your nickels right now for a gigantic wall-mounted plasma display. Hitachi just showed off a new 42" 16:9 plasma HDTV monitor called the 42HDW10 at the CEDIA 2001 Expo in Indianapolis last week that may be just the ticket if you've got the cash and wall space to spare. Hitachi says the 42HDW10 provides enhanced phosphors for color reproduction, improved gray scale reduction, discrete on/off buttons, reduced mechanical noise (25db), and a dark tint faceplate for home theater applications. With a display resolution of 1024 x 1024, the 42HDW10 uses Alternate Lighting of Surfaces (AliS) technology to deliver a 160 degree viewing angle. Along with multi-scan capabilities of 24-106 kHz (H) and 50-85 Hz (V), the set's pixel pitch is 0.90mm (H) x 0.51 mm (V). It also has the ability to display VGA, SVGA, XGA (SXGA/UXGA scales) PC resolutions, has three picture formats, and video, RGB and audio adjustment settings. Set for delivery in November 2001, the 42HDW10 will retail for $9,999.00.
