New drivers from ATI and Nvidia: Open GL 2.0 and 64-bit support
ATI’s most recent catalyst driver update brings full OpenGL 2.0 support to the Radeon product family. According to ATI , the Catalyst 5.3 package is in line with the "latest GL ARB approved specifications".
New features also the error logging system eRecord, a control panel extension in Windows XP Media Center Edition as well as Overdrive 4 with safety checks for overclockers.
5.3 also brings almost two dozen bugfixes including functionality in Windows, the drivers control center, the benchmark 3DMark2001 and games Code Creatures, Pacific Fighters and Thief Deadly Shadows.
Nvidia followed with the release of the ForceWare 70 driver. The company claims it currently is the only Windows XP 64-bit WHQL graphics driver. The latest version also improves SLI performance, brings SLI application profiles for more than 70 games and includes new functionality for PureVideo. (THG)
