New digital music format threatens MP3
A new digital storage format offering higher-quality audio reproduction and requiring less storage space than MP3 is now appearing in consumer products.
Advanced Audio Coding, or AAC, provides up to 48 channels of audio, multi-language capability and sampling rates of up to 96 kHz, with broadcast quality, and better than CD quality, possible.
