New chips cut power usage in half
A new generation of power management chips are designed to cut electrical consumption in appliances and motors by half. By delivering exactly the power that motors, such as those found in washing machines, need at any moment, significant savings in power demand are realized. This is significant because, according to the Electric Power Research Institute, over half the energy consumed in the US goes to electric motors that could be benefited by these new chips.
