Net robots uncover secrets
Several software companies are working on programs meant to search the entire Internet and uncover behaviors and patterns meant to be hidden. One company, the Swiss-based Agence Virtuelle, has announced the RumorBot that controls 44 agents that monitor search engines, news groups and chatrooms search for keywords. The collected data can then be analyzed to find the sources of stock manipulation efforts, the stalking of children and other activities of interest to law enforcement agencies.
