NEC to drop consumer desktops biz?
Various analysts say that NEC Corp. may respond to the slowdown in the computer business by eliminating its desktop personal computer manufacturing business and reduce chip production. NEC also plans to sell some plants and shift production from the US to lower-cost Asian countries.
