NASA to okay space tourist
An Associated Press reporter is quoting anonymous NASA sources who say that Dennis Tito, who paid $20 million to participate in the Russian side of an International Space Station mission, will not be stopped by the US agency. NASA has opposed Tito's involvement, citing safety concerns. Reportedly, Tito's involvement will be an exception and does not signal the willingness of the organization to host paying guests in the future.
Nevertheless, a NASA spokesman still says that the international partners, apparently Canada, Japan and the European Space Agency, have not yet made a final decision to allow Tito on board. Last month, Soyuz crewmembers boycotted a training session in Houston when NASA officials said Tito would not be allowed to train for the mission.
