Napster sets UK debut, rest of Europe in limbo
Napster is set to launch music download services in the UK by the end of the summer, but fans elsewhere in Europe face a long wait as bureaucracy and complex licence deals fuel delays, industry officials and analysts said. Music fans and record companies are increasingly eager for Napster and Apple’s iTunes to open Internet music stores in Western Europe - a debut the industry sees as crucial if it is to torpedo online song piracy.
