MySpace gets political with new "Impact" page

MySpace is getting political with a new section dedicated to president candidates. The "Impact" page can be reached at impact.myspace.com and has profiles, statements and videos about the presidential candidates in the upcoming 2008 United States election.

At first glance, the pages seem like your typical MySpace page with some basic personal information and a list of friends. But many of the candidate pages include several video links along with links to make a political contribution - after all campaigns need money, lots of money.

If presidential were based just on the number of MySpace friends, Barack Obama would currently win in a landslide. Obama has 71,000 MySpace friends while many of the other candidates just have a few thousand.
