Fox, MLB get tool to remove copyrighted content from MySpace

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Los Angeles (CA) - MySpace is developing a utility that will enable content owners to request quick removal of copyrighted materials from member pages. The "new tool" is currently being tested with Fox and MLB Advanced Media and will "be expanded to include other verified copyright holders," MySpace said.

The software works by digitally flagging user-posted videos that are claimed to be unauthorized. MySpace will then "promptly remove" these videos, the company said. MySpace is also using a proprietary technology which the firm claims can block once removed videos from being uploaded again by other users.
