Photo quality isn't currently a priority for multifunction printers. That could change, however, since these products are starting to replace dedicated inkjet printers. For this test we printed an A4 photo at the highest resolution and at maximum quality. The resulting photo - on paper from the same manufacturer as the printer, where possible - was then scanned at 300 to 3200 dpi, depending on the level of detail, on an Epson Perfection 3170 scanner. You can click on the photos to enlarge them.
