Multi Writable Drive Burns CDs and DVDs

by - source: Tom's Hardware

The days of having multiple types of disc burners in your machine to burn multiple types of discs may appear to be drawing to a close, but you can bet something new will come along sometime soon to make all of today's portable disc storage devices nearly obsolete. It's seemingly inevitable to those of us who've been around a while. However, if you're looking for a single device that'll burn and read every type of CD and DVD media imaginable (right now), Hitachi-LG Data Storage may have a solution for you with a drive that can burn all writable CDs and writable DVDs approved by DVD Forum. The unit, called the model GMA-4020B with ATAPI interface will start shipment in January 2002. This half-height drive can read/write DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM and CD-R/RW discs. Hitachi-LG Data Storage is planning to exhibit the GMA-4020B at the Recordable DVD Pavilion at Comdex starting on November 12 in Las Vegas.
