Multi-Tech's New Networked Fax Servers
You may consider faxing old technology but if you can receive faxes on your computer as PDFs or TIFFs you may just reassess your thinking. Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. is announcing one and two-port fax servers that are intended to simplify and lower the cost of networked faxing. The FaxFinder fax servers (Models FF120 and FF220) are turnkey units that include all the hardware and software necessary for sending and receiving faxes via a PBX equipped with digital line (i.e. T1 or PRI) support. When receiving a fax via the PBX, the appliances route pre-assigned fax numbers to standard analog ports connected to them. The FaxFinder fax servers receive and convert the fax to a PDF or TIFF file, which is attached to an email and sent to the proper recipient. Send fax operations can be made from any Windows application using the bundled fax client software. The FaxFinder fax server supports "Super G3" ITU V.34 standard fax communications, along with two-dimensional compression, real-time fax compression conversion, and ECM (Error Correction Mode). The new FaxFinder fax servers are shipping now and are priced at MSRPs of $699 for the FF120 and $1099 for the FF220. The new FaxFinder fax servers, available with either one (Model FF120) or two (Model FF220) ports, are desktop tools that connect to analog port(s) of a PBX capable of DID to DTMF conversion. The solution provides distributed faxing capabilities, over a WAN, from a corporate office to small remote offices as well as to field sales people.
