MSI demos solar cell notebooks
Solar technology is increasingly gaining traction among Asian IT companies, so it was no surprise to find solar cells as the powerplant for a notebook at CeBit : MSI displayed a prototype whose cover was plastered with solar cells. However, the technology is not replacing traditional batteries, but is rather complementing them : According to MSI, the solar cells could extend the running time of an average notebook by about 20 minutes.
MSI plans to introduce a commercial version of its solar-cell supported notebook in August of this year.
