by - source: Tom's Hardware

For those looking for an overview of Microsoft's Windows plans, The Register has prepared a special report on the company's transition to its .NET strategy. Among the points presented is the news that Microsoft will not encourage users of Windows 98 to upgrade to the Whistler version of the OS, now in beta. The report also lays out Microsoft's plans for Blackcomb, the second version of Windows 2000 scheduled for release around late 2002. According to The Register, Blackcomb will fully integrate Microsoft's .NET structure.
