MS storms Unix arena
Having endured the anti-Redmond efforts of major tech players to foster the use of Unix and Linux, Microsoft is fighting back. After a long development cycle, Windows 2000 Datacenter Server is being launched into the world of high-end enterprise platforms where Unix has traditionally ruled unchallenged. Datacenter is designed to maximize high-end hardware, software, and network performance. The server employs four-node clustering and will support 64GByte memory and as many as 32 SMP processors. Microsoft is marketing the product to ISP's and users with the largest data storage and transaction needs.
