MS meets with Dutch hacker

by - source: Tom's Hardware

In what is reportedly a first, officials of Microsoft Corp. met last week with the Dutch hacker, known only as Dimitri, who twice penetrated Microsoft security. His first attack on a Web server, close on the heels of the apparently Russian perusal of Microsoft source code, was answered by a statement from the Redmond company saying the hole that Dimitri had exploited had been fixed. Dimitri, however, broke in a second time and posted a mocking rebuttal to that statement. Observers say that the 19-year-old Dutch IT student's visit to Microsoft's Amsterdam office is the first known meeting between company personnel and a self-confessed hacker. Though neither party would comment about the meeting, Dimitri said, "As far as I know I am not in any trouble."
