MS budgets half billion on Xbox launch
Microsoft will break all its own promotional spending records when it runs through half a billion dollars to launch its Xbox video game console. Scheduled for fall, 2001, the effort will be aimed at taking the console game lead away from Sony in the increasingly lucrative gaming market. This year, the video game industry projects over $7 billion revenues from consoles, games and accessories, beating out the U.S. film industry in revenues.
