MPEG compression chip market to surge; ST and MediaTek top the 2002 market
The MPEG compression chip market will grow from US$1.5 billion in 2002 to US$2.8 billion in 2006. The market grew 27.4% in 2002 as consumers rushed to purchase digital products like DVD players and recorders, set-top boxes (STBs) for digital TVs and MP3 players, according to The Information Network, a US-based research firm.
