MP3.com jurors misplace decimal
The jurors who ordered MP3.com to pay almost $300,000 to a record label for copyright infringement last week told the trial judge that they meant the judgment to be nearly $3 million. Jurors realized their error upon reading press accounts of the trial. Throughout the trial, the jurors struggled with technical details and concepts.
MP3.com had reacted gleefully in a press release when the initial lower judgment was announced. The judge may revise the ruling to reflect the jury's intent.
