Motorola to pitch revised UWB proposal this week
CommsDesign reports that Motorola will bring a revised ultrawideband (UWB) proposal to a meeting of the IEEE 802.15.3a task group in Orlando, Fla., this week.
The revised proposal focuses on shorter-range (3 meter) handheld device and peer-to-peer cable replacement applications. Motorola has also incorporated the recently developed Common Signaling Mode into its proposal and withdrawn its complex and controversial M-ary bi-orthogonal keying (MBOK) modulation scheme.
Motorola’s move is an attempt to break the stalemate that has been in place since last September between Motorola’s DS (Direct Sequence)-UWB and the multiband OFDM technique proposed by the Intel-fueled Multiband-OFDM Alliance (MBOA).
