At Convergence 2000, Motorola Inc. is demonstrating an in-car Bluetooth communication system that transfers data wirelessly between consumer devices and automotive network buses. Analysts believe Bluetooth could change the way drivers control devices such as cell phones and radios, as well as synchronizing PDAs and notebooks with in-car PCs. The ability to communicate maintenance data wirelessly is also eliciting interest as it could eliminate the need for the attachment of monitoring equipment to a car during servicing.
