Monday Rundown: Scarface, Schilling, and Surgeons : Introduction
I spent the last few days doing two things: erasing all possible evidence that I ever watched a single episode of "The O.C.", and trying to comprehend the ever-growing list of celebrities that have been assembled for Scarface: The World is Yours. It started out small, actually - Vivendi Games first announced the title's initial cast last April, and the group included original Scarface actors Steven Bauer and Robert Loggia, as well as Academy Award-nominated actor James Woods. And frankly, that's where things began to drop off. In addition to Woods, the cast got "comedians" Cheech Marin and Jay Mohr, and actors such as Robert Davi ("Goonies," "Showgirls") and Michael Rappaport ("True Romance," "Beautiful Girls").
Then, earlier this month, in preparation for E3, Vivendi dropped the mother lode on us. Joining the cast were more than 30 celebrities and quasi-famous people, including: Ice-T ("New Jack City," "Leprechaun in the Hood"); Cheech's partner Tommy Chong; Daniel Dae Kim (TV's "Lost"); Jason Mewes ("Clerks," "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"); Ricky Gervais ("The Office"); rock star Tommy Lee; Bam Margera (MTV's "Jackass"); Anthony Anderson ("Me, Myself and Irene," "Malibu's Most Wanted"); Wilmer Valderrama (dated Mandy Moore, Lindsay Lohan and possibly Jennifer Love Hewitt, too); Richard Roundtree ("Shaft"); B. Real and sen Dog (rap group Cypress Hill); NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt Jr.; and Jillian Barberie (Fox NFL Sunday, "Skating with the Stars").
It appears that whatever your claim to fame is, you've got a shot at getting your voice in that game. No doubt, a flood of Scarface fans came rushing through Vivendi's doors to try to get a spot on that eclectic roster. So the game may end up sounding a little something like this:
Tony: "In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, you get the women."
Rappaport: "They're all sisters, Tony. It's one big conspiracy, trust me!"
Davi: "Remember when we were going to get your teeth fixed? But we spent the money on Francis' toupee!"
Tony: "I never [bleeped] anybody over in my life didn't have it coming to them. You got that? All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break them for no one, you understand?"
Chong: "Yeah, I can dig that, man, 'cause that's a dangerous bit, man!"
Cheech: "They'd stop him at the border, man, and search his bag of goodies and take his magic dust, man. Just everywhere he went, he ran into too much recession, man."
Chong: "No, man, you mean he ran into too much repression, man."
Jay: "What the [bleep] is the Internet?"
