2,500 Players Banned From Cheating in MW2

How about using this great VAC system and not banning someone who payed for the game but wanted unlimited ammo.

You were stupid enough to cheat on it and now complaining about being banned? Oh. Dear.

VAC AFAIK is MP only. So only people using cheats in MP can get banned.

I love that they're getting banned. When I do come across cheaters in Counter Strike I have to vote to boot him or leave... no point playing a game that's not fair.

This game sounds pretty crappy on PC, I know that most of you are die hard PC gamers but honesly PC gaming is a dying form, that's why there's a lack of dedicated servers, and that's why infinty ward could care less about the PC gaming community . I myself used to be a dedicated PC gamer but eventually I got sick of the upgrading and cost associated with PC gaming, I made a single investment into a PS3 and I am comforted by knowing that I won't ever have to upgrade the video card or double the ram. I admit analog sticks take some getting used to but once you figure it out it's as good as mouse and keyboard. PC's are best left for email and the Internet. If you wanna play games. Get a PS3. come on, the grass is greener over here.

haha ok, I take your point. Everyone's trying to get me to get a console, I'm happy with my steady laptop thanks ... I got a wired xbox 360 controller and plug my laptop into the tv when i really want to be lazy on the sofa . Grass isn't greener but is a more hippy animated flower power colour on mine.

I would say that most people on this forum have a game console, but prefer using a PC for some/most genre of games.
The reason there is a lack of dedicated PC servers in MW2 isn't because its a 'dying platform' but because its not supported.
PS3 also cannot compete with modern PCs for graphic capabilities, PCs equaling the PS3 in performance can be built for less now.

Sure but what happens when the next cod comes out with double the specs, time to buy a new computer, I admit graphics are nicer on the PC but it looks awesome on PS3 already so who cares, my point is it's cheaper to console game, and I disagree, you can't build a gaming computer for $299

lol, you can tone the graphics down to PS3 level... and the CODs havent doubled in spec, more recommended became required from COD4 to MW2.

And you can build a gaming system for $AUD 360, (just a coincidence the cheapest price for just the console I found was 360), just dont expect the top graphics.

... also think of it as killing two birds with one stone...

The game is excellent on PC and the number of cheaters is not that high, I dont recall running into any at all(so far).

And regards upgrading.. I suppose you were one of the original PS buyers in 95? And you havent bothered "upgrading" to the PS#3#? Oh wait you did! So that means you have spent money on getting new kit in your PS3 its just someone else did the work of packaging it and making it for you.

Don't come on a PC hardware website shouting the grass is greener and trying to placate people by saying that analog sticks are hard to put up with, seriously, go back to the console doldrums please.

psone lasted like a decade, same with ps2 which is still going by the way, ps3, probably just as long, I don't know about you but I've never had a computer for 10 years. Obviously I'm going to eventually buy a new console like you will eventually buy a new computer, it's technology, and that means that eventually they will all become obsolete. I just argue that the turnover period is longer for consoles then computers. For all those mmorpgs and such they could easily become console titles, ps3 supports keyboards and mice, all they would have to do is add game support for them, i dunno, i guess it comes down to, to each there own, but console gaming is IMHO the way to go for sure, nice form factor, no fuss, just pop in a game and play, easy peasy.

You havn't owned a computer in the last 10 years yet your on the internet on a pc hardware website, so i guess your on ps3 browser?

Regarding consoles they are actually turning into pcs as they do more and more, so u will be buying a pc soon

actually i have a nice dell xps m1530 laptop which isn't a monster by any means but is capable of playing newer games, but i feel my ps3 is just better. and before you harp me for having a laptop, and tell me that you need a desktop PC to game and all that, I have to say i got it because of portability and the fact that i already have a console for gaming and therefore dont need the desktop pc. and to be fair toms hardware talks about the iphone as much as they talk about PC's. this isn't strictly a PC enthusiast site, its for all sorts of technology, from consoles, to cameras, to PC's to phones, ect.

Can you get Dwarf Fortress on PS3?

sounds lame, and no, you can't. but the only games worth playing are available for it... sorry any game with dwarfs, elfs, or anything gay like that should be banned, even if its just the title of the game lol

PC gaming dying? Well large parts of it are dying but some parts are thriving. I went into my local Game store last week to see what was in. There was a wall full of 360 stuff, a wall full of Wii and DS stuff and half a wall for the PS3 (the rest was the counter).

Where was the PC section? After a hunt I found one rack of games hidden in the corner behind a support pillar. They even stored the fire extiguishers in front it was so dormant. The games on the rack were mainly "buy two/four for xx.xx" or MMOs that you would download anyway.

It's not looking good retail wise.

That was my point really - you can just about play anything on PC. Consoles are good for blockbuster titles if that's your bag, but you're just not going to get the depth and breadth of titles that you can for PC.

On the other hand you know what you're getting with a console and the whole end user experience is painless - they do what they say on the tin and if you put the time in to re-learn the controls you're laughing.

IMO, FPS were just not designed to be played with a joypad - it just doesn't feel right - I'd take a PC over a console anytime, even if it costs me more in terms of pain, time and money. They are what I like, what I'm used to. And I can play Dwarf Fortress

BTW, does anyone have an opinion on the price of console games? I always think, considering the supposedly lower development costs, that their games always seem expensive at launch, £40 to £50 in some cases.

daglesj - you actually go to a shop, in a street to but games for your PC? Why lower yourself to the status of a console user - buy and download your games online. Remember this next time and you won't have to mix with the riff raff

FPS and RTS don't work without a mouse / keyboard. Imagine CIV4 using a joystick. Eventually as yuzi87 says, consoles will become PCs.

They'll be like Apple; applications only for the chosen console, inflated prices for software, not real hardware upgrades but people will buy them because they will always work with the software on offer.

I am DarkGhost058 On Live and I play MW2 as my main Live game. I see Cheaters all the time. Some Just Mode and alter there name by useing there Computers. Others use Lag Switches but the majority of the Cheaters go into whats called a 10th Prestige Party where from what i have been told by friends who try to invite me into them. Someone hosts there own private game that is hacked. The game thinks ifs an offical game and the one who hosts it can dictate how much points are worth and what you do for Challenge and Titles. Say one kill could level a person entirely through a single prestige the person go out predigests and comes back and doe sit again until they are at there desired Prestige. 99% of people go to 10th Witch sucks because 1 you don't know who cheated and who didn't cheat there way there so I personally treat them all the same i mute them in there profile and i leave the game I almost completely refuse to play with a 10th Prestige because of that. I see someone with a modded name i File a complaint instantly and anyone who sends me an invite to a prestige party i also file complaints on them for Cheating. I just hope things are done about it because TO me this truly ruins the game to where I would rather just no play it and collect like 10$ for selling it.
