The design of the packaging shows that the manufacturer knows a thing or two about marketing and advertising. While other companies woo customers with brightly colored, if dubious, motifs, such as, for example, balls, animals and heads, and give the user no information about the actual product, Gigabyte has important information at the ready. The collapsible lid of the packaging is useful in this respect. Some candidates could learn a thing or two from Gigabyte.

Nevertheless, Gigabyte still has room for improvement with regard to the name: what association would connect the user to the GA-8KNXP Ultra? Exceptional features are offered by of the top model from Gigabyte (produced in six layers) compared to the rest of the candidates.

Items that immediately catch the eye are the six DIMM slots, the AGP Pro Slot and the two Ultra 320-SCSI interfaces. The external SCSI controllers, which are available from $250, can manage up to 16 devices, whereas the onboard version only supports four devices. It is possible to utilize older modules in pairs by means of the six memory slots; the chipset can address a maximum of eight pages. This means that a maximum of four double-sided modules (pretty rare), as well as six one-sided, two double-sided or four one-sided memories can be fitted.
