A glance at the P4C800 Deluxe connections shows that Asus has at least dispensed with a serial connection, integrating an SP7DIF outlet instead. In addition, there are four USB 2 connections and a FireWire port, which is controlled via the VIA chip (VT6307). The labels on the connections for the panel are a bit too small.
The outstanding AC'97 Codec from Soundmax, with integrated noise suppression and numerous 3D sound features, is noteworthy, although there is a bitter aftertaste: if users want to enjoy 5.1 sound, the inputs for line and microphone are automatically occupied. Hence, they have the choice of either using a microphone for the chat, combined with analog stereo sound, or doing without these functions and using 5.1 Audio - the digital output of the SP/DIF is irrelevant, as an additional sound panel is not available. On the other hand, the language output via digital chip is useful for beginners or OEMs when searching for errors.
The Q Fan function in the BIOS ensures low noise levels, and has remained unchanged since our last test. Efficiency as well as problems with adjustment should be improved.
