Mira - floating displays around the home
One of the more interesting announcements at WinHEC is Mira. A display that can detach from its base unit and be carried around the house, Mira will allow users to carry their Windows around with them. However, the display is going to be served through Microsoft's RDP (remote display protocol) from a main Windows XP SP1 desktop. Microsoft is encouraging OEMs at WinHEC to look into building Mira displays, which will have 802.11x and graphics built in. It's a cool idea, and also dovetails nicely into Microsoft's push on Tablet PC as well.
