Mio aims to ship 3.5 million own-brand PNDs in 2007
Mio Technology, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitac International, expects shipments of its Mio-branded portable navigation devices (PNDs) to total 3.5 million units in 2007, up sharply from the 1.6 million units it shipped in 2006, according to company president Samuel Wang. Of the projected shipments for 2007, sales to Europe are expected to top 1.6-1.7 million units, compared to the 900,000 units shipped last year, Wang noted.
