Microsoft to Introduce New Gadgets that use FM Radio Waves
Microsoft plans to use FM radio waves for its latest technology products for instant messaging, updating traffic information and breaking news to devices that can be worn, and are so small and portable they can be carried on a key chain. Microsoft envisions consumers using tiny liquid crystal display (LCD) screens on devices such as a high-tech watch, key chains, alarm clocks and even refrigerator magnets.
By using existing FM radio spectrum technology, these devices could receive sports scores, news and weather updates, etc. These devices will be available in the retail market in Fall 2003, with FM signal transmission of data to the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S.
