Microsoft squeezes the kids
While BillG and the wife unit pour their vast fortune into educational charities (it's all about the kids), Microsoft's marketing people are putting the squeeze on schools in Oregon. According to The Oregonian, Microsoft has requested Portland Public Schools do a licensing audit of their 25,000 computers within 60 days. Of course, this is enough pressure on beleaguered educators, but to add insult to injury, Microsoft's marketing mendicants also saw fit to market their school licensing agreement at the same time. Apparently, at some point soon, Microsoft pushers will be selling XP Home activation keys to pre-schoolers. Makes you want to curl up in a foetal position and think happy thoughts.
