Microsoft settlement offer rejected
U.S. Justice Department officials rejected Microsoft's last-ditch offer to settle the government's antitrust suit against the company.
One official said federal and state attorneys who reviewed the offer found that "it wasn't nearly enough." No new talks are scheduled.
Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson has told both sides that, barring a settlement, he will issue a verdict in the case as soon as Tuesday, when he is expected to find Microsoft in broad violation of antitrust law.
