Microsoft plugs Hotmail hole
Microsoft has fixed another JavaScript bug in its Hotmail free e-mail service, eliminating a potential security risk to users.
The problem concerns a JavaScript applet that poses as a Hotmail login dialog box. When the applet is loaded, a bogus Hotmail login request box pops up. The ruse could be used to fool users into divulging their login information, allowing intruders to access customers' Hotmail accounts.
Microsoft was alerted to the bug Monday and posted a fix shortly thereafter.
