Microsoft Holds Prices on Windows Server 2003
Microsoft has announced that it will keep its licensing fees for Windows Server 2003 at the same price as Windows 2000 Server. IT technology managers and corporate environments have expressing concerns over what they foresaw as Microsoft's inevitable automatic price increases of at least 10% for Server 2003. Microsoft announced that the price would remain at $999 US for Windows 2003 Standard Edition and $3,999 US for the Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition. This was perceived by some IT experts as a direct result of the Linux open source O/S and its lower cost alternatives. Microsoft will also offer Windows Server 2003 in a bare bones Web Edition for $399 US, which was not previously an option with Windows 2000.
