Microsoft and Sony Cut Video Game Prices in EU

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Both Sony, the manufacturer of the PlayStation 2 console, and Microsoft, the manufacturer of the XBox console, are aggressively competing head on for the sale of their video games. In a timely announcement on the evening of the ECTS Video Game Developers' Conference in London, England, Sony announced that it would reduce its retail price in Great Britain by 15% to $260, and in the rest of continental Europe to roughly $244-$253, a 17% reduction. Not to be outdone, Microsoft countered with its own price reduction announcement the same evening, for its Xbox product, with prices ranging from $244 in Great Britain to $305 in continental Europe. The price reductions go into effect this week, with both manufacturers vying for early holiday shoppers.
