Microsoft admits ineptitude
Microsoft CIO Rick Devenuti says that Microsoft Corp. "did not apply sufficient self-defense techniques" to defend the company's Websites from the two denial-of-service attacks that shut down its computer networks last week. He also said that the company's Web architecture is being changed and that an outside firm will provide backup Domain Name System (DNS) servers. The attacks have been an embarrassment for Microsoft as it prepares its Internet-based .Net product line.
