Scientists create genetically modified supermice

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

U.S. scientists have created a genetically modified mouse which can run twice the distance that a normal mouse or any other rodent is capable of.

The mice can also breed later in life than normal mice. The GM mice bred at 3 years old which in mousey years is the equivalent of an octogenarian giving birth.

The mice can run for six hours at a speed of 20 meters per minute with out a break and utilize fatty acids for energy and produce very little lactic acid.

The researchers hope that the study of the mice and the modifiying will aid the understanding of human health and disease.

The mice were modified so that scientists could study the play of biochemistry in metabolism. The scientists found that the supermice could run twice as far, live longer, eat twice as much and weigh half as much as regular mice.

I can only assume that the future of the Olympics will also be heavily impacted by this research, as well as dog and horse racing.

that would make it faster than a cheetah, wouldn't it? which can only sustain that speed for a few moments.

I think you meant something like 2 m/s
