Jon "Johnny Cache" Ellch and other computer security researchers are adding wireless exploit tools into the upcoming version 3.0 of the Metasploit penetration testing toolkit. The tools will allow hackers to inject raw packets into wireless streams and potentially crash or takeover systems.
Metasploit was created by H.D. Moore to test code vulnerabilities and is a multi-platform and open-source toolkit for creating and executing exploit code. Free exploits, which are added on an almost daily basis, are installed and executed in small, easy to download modules.
Ellch has given several talks on low-level wireless hacking and gained notoriety for his Macbook Wi-Fi talk during this year’s Black Hat computer security convention in Vegas.
Beta versions of Metasploit 3.0 are freely downloadable at Metasploit’s website.
