Maxtor's NAS 4300 File Server Lets You Take Snapshots

by - source: Tom's Hardware

While business is slow, it might just be a good time to prepare for the economic boom that we optimists are sure is just around the corner. Getting ready for business? Throw more hardware at it (or just catch the hardware as it flies out the window from dot.coms). Maxtor just announced availability of its MaxAttach NAS 4300 file server. The IDE-based 1U-high 400GB rack-mountable rig now includes software that lets you IT folks periodically record a "snapshot" of the server's file system so that, if a file is inadvertently erased, the stored image can be accessed to recover it. Maxtor says its new MaxAttach NAS 4300 file server is up to two times faster than its earlier products and gives you up to 140Mbp/s sustained throughput over the included Gigabit Ethernet interface. It supports Windows, UNIX, Linux, Macintosh, and NetWare clients to enable unprejudiced sharing of digital goodies between the different environments. The platform provides support for Active Directory, network management tools, backup agents, and anti-virus software. Maxtor MaxAttach NAS 4300 is priced at $5,999 MSRP and includes a three-year hardware warranty. You'll still be in business in three years, won't you?
