Maxtor unveils 80GB hard drive
Maxtor claims to have produced the first 80GB hard drive for the desktop.
Designed for applications requiring high capacity and fast transfer rates, the DiamondMax 80 runs at 5400rpm and allows data transfer rates of 100MBps.
The drive was produced by stacking four 20 GB platters in one drive, pushing IDE drive capacity, in a 1" height, beyond 1.6" SCSI capacity for the first time, company officials said.
