Maxtor to buy Quantum disk drive biz
Maxtor Corp. will buy Quantum Corp.'s hard disk group for $1.1 billion in stock to create the world's largest disk drive company. Both companies' shareholders have approved the sale. Quantum Corp., minus the disk drive sector, will concentrate on network-attached storage appliances, multivendor storage networking systems as well as support and consulting services.
