Matrox's New Millennium G550 Dual DVI Graphics Card
Despite fierce competition from NVIDIA and ATI, Matrox is no slouch in the graphics biz and continues to put out new and competitive products. The company's new Millennium G550 single-chip Dual DVI graphics card, which it says is targeted at the corporate market of IT professionals and managers, outputs to either two analog or two digital monitors from a single chip with no external TMDS (transition minimized differential signaling) transmitters. It supports resolutions of up to 1280x1024 on both panels, and gives you the option of upgrading from dual-analog output to dual-digital output by adding an external Dual DVI cable. The Millennium G550 Dual DVI supports both ATX and low-profile brackets and supports independent resolutions and color depths for dual monitors under Windows 2000. The Matrox Millennium G550 Dual DVI graphics card and the Dual DVI cable are shipping now. Single-piece units of the Millennium G550 Dual DVI graphics card, without Dual DVI cable, are priced at US $150. The Dual DVI cable is priced at around US $59.
