Marshal's "New Generation" Email Security Appliance
Secure email and Internet gateway security provider Marshal is broadening its security offerings with the announcement of a "new generation" security appliance based on its MailMarshal SMTP software. The security appliance will form part of the rollout of Marshal’s Multi-Platform strategy, and will follow the launch of MailMarshal Service Provider Edition, which allows users to benefit from a hosted email security service through service providers.
Built on the same platform and policy engine as MailMarshal SMTP software, Marshal Security Appliance MailMarshal eIOOOO provides the identical functionality, flexibility and performance inherent in the SMTP software and is scalable for small to very large enterprise deployments. Marshal says its new generation security appliance offers the security and ease of administration of an appliance combined with the flexibility and functionality of a software solution. In addition, Marshal’s array management technology lets system administrators manage a large number of appliances across multiple locations from just one central point.
MailMarshal eIOOOO provides content protection as well as a defense against malware, making it an option for companies that prefer the convenience of appliance hardware but require comprehensive content security at the gateway perimeter. The Marshal Security appliance provides deep content inspection as well as protection against security threats including : spam, phishing, viruses, spyware, fraud, porn, DHA, DOS, regulatory non-compliance and intellectual property theft.
Each MailMarshal eIOOOO is a hardened email processing platform that supports load balancing out of the box and is also preconfigured with an integrated anti-virus scanner. Using Marshal’s Array Manager, new appliances can be added and auto-configured from the central console.
MailMarshal eIOOOO is based on a Pentium 4 CPU with redundant hard drives, a Marshal MTA and a hardened operating system. The Marshal Array manager software requires Windows 2000/XP/2003 ; MSDE 2000 SP3a or later, SQL 2005 Express, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3a or later or SQL Server 2005 ; and ASP .NET 1.1.
