Wii's Super Mario Galaxy gets 2007 release date
San Francisco (CA) - While most of Shigeru Miyamoto’s GDC keynote was spent talking about Nintendo’s philosophy, one new announcement slipped through. Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii will be released this year.
We spent some time with the game at last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), and the controls were a bit temperamental. As the spiritual successor to the Gamecube’s only traditional Mario game, Super Mario Sunshine, Galaxy is going to set the stage for future Wii platformers.
Miyamoto did not give a specific date for the game, but it is the first time that Nintendo mentioned any sort of release window. It was originally planned to hit stores within the first few months after the Wii’s launch.
