Macronix: Flash prices feeble, aims for high-end flash
To lower costs, Macronix International plans to shift all high-end flash production to 0.18-micron technology by year-end, said company president Miin Wu. The Taiwan-based IDM's emphasis on high-end flash, specifically for the mobile phone and memory card markets, takes its cue from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Intel's recent pessimism towards the low-capacity flash market, Wu indicated.
